Alfie and I had an amazing time taking part in the Canicross Midlands event on Saturday 19th January. It was our first event and the atmosphere was great. It was a fabulous experience for us both but the main reason I entered was that I wanted Alfie to feel the excitement of running with a large number of dogs and having another dog to chase so that he really learned what it felt like to “pull” into his harness. Everyone was set off at 20 second intervals so you were not in a large pack but within sight of the people in front, giving you a target. Alfie loved it and ran his heart out. We then did our usual Sunday canid class and he pulled so much better after his experience on the Saturday. A great =idea if you want your dog to experience the “pull”. I am so looking forward to the official photos being released – watch this space.
